This month we will start at the beginning. This coaching tip discusses why discovering your soul’s purpose is important to manifesting your physical and spiritual desires. It also touches on the need to share what you create. These are two steps not include in most other Law of Attraction tools or models. This also allows for spiritual manifestation–getting close to God.

My son has made the decision again to go to New York based upon what I believe is his soul’s purpose. (I am accompanying him as his chaperon.) He will be attending a summer ballet intensive. He is a dancer. By pursuing his dream of becoming a dancer, by leaving his home and going to this other place, he hopes to become “a blessing” in the form of a professional dancer who brings beauty and joy to those who watch him dance. In the process, he also will fulfill his soul’s purpose and bring joy and fulfillment to himself.

How many of us “go forth from your land and from your birthplace and from your father’s house to the land that I will show you” to that we can become “a blessing”?  How many of us give things up to pursue the things that allow us to fulfill our soul’s purpose?

My son has chosen not to participate in other well-loved activities. He has lost friends. He has endured ridicule.

Would you like to be a blessing? Would you like to fulfill your soul’s purpose? What are you willing to do to achieve these goals? What are you willing to give up or leave behind? Have you ever noticed if God placed before you a land to explore? And if he did, would you enter it?

I was speaking with a woman who told me that as I inspire others to write their books, as I create passion within them to tell their stories from the page (and through social media and from the podium), I am doing spiritual work. She explained that the passion I impart and instill involves spirituality. Indeed, passion comes from our spiritual nature. It’s comes out of our soul and connects us to something higher, bigger, creative. It’s our link to Source energy.

By helping others become creative beings and supporting them in expression their passion, I assist them in getting in touch their souls, their souls’ purpose, and with Source. That’s a spiritual pursuit.

Ah. How relieved I felt. Until that moment I had felt as if this part of my work life was quite removed from the other part. One felt spiritual and the other secular. Now I could see how they were linked, how one feeds into the other and back again.

If you would like to find spirituality in your work, maybe you need only discover your passion–or how you help others find passion. Discover how what you do fulfills your soul’s purpose or how it allows you to express your creativity. Then allow yourself to feel passionate about that.

Or simply ask God, Source, the Creator to act through you as you work. That brings spirituality into the workplace.  Then proceed with passion.

You see, no matter whether your project entails manifesting a new car, finding a new job, writing a book, improving a relationship, losing weight, or getting out of debt, you must begin by asking yourself how doing or accomplishing these things allows your soul to do what it came to this Earth to do. Every soul has a job here. Each person has a unique talent or gift. Everyone is good at something or especially suited to some task. We each feel passionate about something–when we do that something our heart sings. That’s what we are supposed to be doing. And when you or I understand how what we want or need–the project we want to undertake–serves that purpose, we’ll have an easier time meeting our goal or manifesting our desires.

That’s why the first step in my conscious creation process asks people to get in touch with what the Kabbalists called “Adam Kadmon,” the blueprint of all creation or, what I call the repository of your soul’s purpose. I want you to discover your unique talent or gift and how you are going to bring that into the world. I want you to create from a place that is in touch with your soul’s purpose–with the reason you are here. When you create things that help you fulfill your soul’s purpose, you manifest those desires more easily. They fit into the Divine plan and, therefore, you find them taking physical form almost miraculously when you set your mind, emotions, and actions to creating them. Additionally, you will want to share them as a way of fulfilling your soul’s purpose and completing the conscious creation process as I outline it.

I think overall we manifest things more quickly and easily when they fit into the Divine Plan…not into some human plan. If you aren’t just manifesting more “stuff” but things that help you fulfill your soul’s purpose–things that help you do what you are meant to accomplish in this lifetime, you’ll have more success with your conscious creation efforts.

Remember, this is a co-creation process after all. You and the Ultimate Creator are creating together.

If Queen Esther found herself in that castle at just the right time to save the Jews, could it be that I am here in this particular place at this particular moment to do something spectacular as well? Or will I discover one day that God has led me through a sequence of events so I arrive at a specific place at a specific time so I can do something unique and special, such as fulfill my life’s purpose or create positive change in the world or in other people’s lives?

And what happens if I deviate from the course? What if I miss the signals and end up somewhere else?

The story of Purim is all about synchronicity and God’s hand working in people’s lives. Thus, it gives me hope and renews my faith that synchronicity can occur in my own and that I, too, will find God’s hand leading me to the right place at the right time.

However, we have to allow ourselves to see the signs, feel the signals, sense what direction to take so that we can arrive in the intended place. Many of us ignore these signs or simply don’t see, hear, smell, taste, or feel them. We don’t use our five–or six–senses to help us get directions from God or from our souls (or Higher Selves).

Someone recently told me that I would get messages constantly if I only meditated every day. She said I didn’t even need to do this for long periods of time…just for 10 or 15 minutes each morning. Doing so would inform my whole day.

Anyone can do that–even me. The practice of meditating even for short periods opens up the senses and allows us to use them like a compass–like a spiritual GPS system. We can tap into our intuition. We can hear the Still Small Voice.

This week, try meditating every morning for a little while for the express purpose of getting messages about where you are supposed to be and what you are supposed to be doing. Allow your senses to guide you.Stop. Look. Listen. Feel. Maybe, like Esther, you’ll find yourself in the right place at the right time.

Like Esther, also be prepared to act courageously–to have a bit of chutzpah. Don’t let the moment pass you by.

Maybe you weren’t fulfilling your soul’s purpose. Maybe you were doing the wrong good deeds or performing the wrong mitzvot for you. Yes…that’s possible.

Rabbi Manchem Mendel Schneerson said:

We are each given a mission to fulfill during the course of our lives. we are also allocated the requisite number of days in which to fulfill this mission; we are given neither one moment too many nor one moment too few. Every day or moment that is not utilized in fulfillment of its particular mission is not only a waste of that particular moment, but an abuse of the mission entrusted to us by the King of all Kings, Almighty God, blessed be He. This is true even if we are engaged in a good endeavor, but not related to our particular mission.

When I read this quote last night while attending a class taught at my local Chabad House, I was struck by how often I feel I am trying to do good, how often I am trying to do the right thing, and how often I feel I am losing time and off course from what I am supposed to be doing.

Many of us feel this. We feel we must take a certain job to support our families rather than one that we’ve always dreamed of having. We feel we must help the person who asks for help even though it prevents us from completing a person projects dear to our hearts. We feel we must volunteer for a particular charity even though we want to put in time for a different one. And then we come home with regrets and a feeling of incompleteness and emptiness. We feel unfulfilled, unhappy and as if we are simply surviving rather than thriving. We sense that something essential in our nature is not being allowed to grow and prosper–and to give to the world.

Rabbi Schneerson’s words spoke to me. It called out to me. It yelled at me. It said, “You must fulfill your soul’s purpose now, not later. You are losing time!”

I know that only when each and every one of us is taking right action towards fulfilling our soul’s purpose–our own mission–will we manifest the things we want and need in our lives.

Yes, it is possible to do good while doing wrong on a soul level. That, it seem is easy. Many of us do this. The harder thing involves doing good while doing right on a soul level.

Actually, this only feel hard at first. I’m sure that once you and I take that step and begin doing the right thing, the good thing, the mitzvah that allows us to fulfill our mission on this earth, we will find that everything flows easily and effortless. Thus, continuing to do so will seem very easy. We will wonder why we didn’t do so long ago.

Great question! Here’s the answer, which involves asking some more questions.

You discover our soul’s purpose by answering these questions:

What gifts do you have?

What are you good at?

What do you feel drawn to do?

What types of things interest you?

How do you best help people?

In what situation do you feel most equipped to add value?

What things do you do that make your heart sing–that bring you joy, raise your energy or give you deep satisfaction.

To what activities are you drawn over and over again with no real explanation?

Do you see your life constantly leading you to certain activities, situations, occupations, careers, etc.?

If you look back at your personal history, can you find patterns that show you how God’s hand has been pushing you gently in a certain direction?

By answering these types of questions honestly, you will “learn” your soul’s purpose. In your answers you will discover the truth about what you are meant to do in this lifetime.

And, indeed, that truth will set you free…free to realize your full potential, to live the life you were meant to live and to live a life “on” purpose and “of” purpose. In the process, you will connect with your true self–your soul–and with God, for your soul is eternally connected to the Source of All.

Does the One to whom you soul always is connected have to yell loudly enough so you hear the calling? Does the end of life have to beckon for you to rush off headlong to realize your God-given potential and ensure that you don’t die with your song still within you?

Or will you heed the words of the Still Small Voice whispering in your ear? Will you hurry off to pursue the strange stirring that makes you want to do something new or take on a project you’ve always dreamt of completing? Will you take notice of the synchronistic events that make a path for you to follow to your destiny? Will you be conscious of the emotions that provide clues to what makes your heart and soul sing? Will you see God’s hand reaching out to you to show you what direction to take in order to fulfill your soul’s purpose–and will you reach out and take hold of that hand?

Or, does something cataclysmic have to happen before you decide to fulfill your soul’s purpose? Do you have to get into a terrible car accident, come down with a fatal or debilitating illness, suffer a loss, or in some other way have your life turned upside down or inside out?

You can decide to fulfill your soul’s purpose by simply deciding to do so right now–right in this moment–and then taking action to do so.  Will you make that choice?

Do you have a dream? It’s important to have a dream. I have tons of them…sometimes I think too many! However, dreaming is good, unless you get too caught up in your dreams to actually live your life. Even day dreaming a bit here and there serves a purpose, though.

All dreaming can be put to good use. If you actually use your dreams for creative visualization or in creative thought, conscious or deliberate creation exercises, you can help bring your dreams into reality. Yes…you can manifest them. So, today of all days–when we remember Rev. King’s “I Have a Dream Speech,” (which you can listen to here), I suggest you remember your favorite dream or two and think about it long and hard. Visualize it in great detail and also imagine what it would feel like to have that dream come true. Then, imagine what steps you might take to help bring that dream into physical reality. When you’ve done this, you’ve gone through a conscious or deliberate creation process. This is also known as using the Law of Attraction, although I’ve added in an action step as well.

Now, if you want to do this in a more Jewish manner, try my Kabbalistic conscious creation approach. First, think about how your dream fulfills your soul’s purpose. If you don’t know your soul’s purpose, consider you special gifts, what you are really good at or the things you enjoy doing. You might also think about what you seem to be drawn to doing. Second, imagine your dream in vivid detail. Think about every aspect of that dream, including how it flows out of your soul’s purpose. Third, feel what it would be like to manifest your dream and, therefore, to be living your soul’s purpose in some way. Fourth, see yourself taking action to bring your dream into reality. Also, see yourself having manifested your dream and using it in some way–sharing it with others. In other words, see how this dream could be of benefit not just to yourself but to others. Now, take a moment to go through the whole process again so you can experience how receiving your dream and sharing it with others allows you to fulfill your soul’s purpose.  See if you can feel how sharing what you have created–your dream–with others puts you in better touch with the essence of who you are–your soul.

That’s the goal of Kabbalah…to have a dream of receiving for the sake of giving, because this helps you not only get in touch with your own essence but with God. You see, that part of you remains connected to God, and you can feel that connection when you behave like God–when you give.

So, today, have a dream. In fact, dream big! Dream of feeling your connection with God.

Today I was reading a blog about this week’s parshah and came upon a teaching from Rav Kook, the former chief rabbi of Israel. He said the moment you were born is the exact moment that God decided the world could no longer function without you.

So, your moment of conception had to be predestined and, even though pregnancy takes nine months (usually), the decision about when exactly you should enter this world-that instant between being in the womb and out of the womb, was a decision made by God.

God determined, “The world needs you NOW.” And, boom! You were born.

This strikes me as an awesome concept. It’s as if God acts as the midwife, reaching in and pulling the baby out. (I visualize this as the Shechinah doing so lovingly rather than Adonai doing so forcefully.)

This same blog, brought in a teaching from my all-time-favorite teacher, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. The author wrote: “This has to be put into the lens of an obvious-yet-overlooked teaching of Rebbe Nachman. This moment right now? No moment like this ever has been. And now that it is gone, there will be a never moment like it. The power encapsulated in every single ‘now’ is irreplaceable. I NEED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE!”

Think about it. God brought you into the world at that particular time, because the world needed you more in that moment than at any other. Of course, your soul was housed in a tiny body. If the world needed you, you couldn’t do much about it. Now, however, you are in a large body that can act and speak and pursue your soul’s purpose.

Now, in this moment, which Rebbe Nachman says is like no other, how will you make the most of it? How will you do what it takes to serve God and the world? If the world needed you then, how much more so does it need you now? And what are you going to do about that? How will you take advantage of this moment, let alone this life?

More simply put, knowing that God pulls you out of the womb at the exact moment when the world needs your soul to come into physical form, how will you spend the moments of your life?

Pretty awesome thing to consider, no?
